The past 2 weekends we have gone to Holly Springs to test. That place is nothing like the old Holly. The track was ground smooth over the winter and is working great to say the least. We have made 6 hits and have not spun a tire. Our best so far is a 4.89 on a track that a year ago I could not go 5.30's on a consistant basis!

We have been running with the boost turned down on the big end just to make sure we get stopped ok and mainly just working on the front half. We have gone several mid 1.20 60' fts with a best of 1.24 so far.

Its great to have a track that is killer only 25 minutes from home!

Jeff and I have decided to make the trip to Rockingham NC this weekend for the 1320x race. Its a long haul but we have not gone anywhere in 2 months and are ready to do some racing.

The car seems to be coming around pretty good. We have tested the past 2 weekends at Holy Springs with good results. Hopefully it will run well this weekend. There will be some super fast cars there for sure.

Just laying low. Getting ready to start coaching my sons machine pitch team, that should be interesting. The car is covered up in the garage waiting for me to decide what is next. I need to round up a few parts yet, got any 55mm camshafts laying around. I am going to start assembling the engine and go from there but no matter what we are staying close to home. What are you up to this year?

The rest of the weekend did not go very well to say the least!

The car drove right for 2nd round qualifying and I had to lift. In the 3rd round we smoked the tranny and broke the rearend! Unfortunately we thought the entire problem was the rearend and did not realize the tranny was bad too. Fixed that and then for 1st round elims Sunday morning I let go of the button and first gear was smoked. We were lucky that our oponent broke or we would have lost right there.

We swapped the tranny and converter between rounds and went back up. I hate to tell what happened next but here it is. I ran a nice 4.81 to my opponents 4.91, unfortunately I must have been watching something other that the tree because I cut a .248 light to his .048 and lost by over a car length even though I went a tenth quicker. I think that was the first time I've ever lost on a holeshot and boy was it a big one!

We are in Bradenton enjoying a little sunshine and warm weather. We decided to come down and run the US Nationals this weekend.

First test pass the car left well but drove left and I had to lift about the 330. It was on about an 80 flat hit. For 1st round qualifying the car went dead straight and went 4.79 @ 160 which put us #2qualifier behind Will Stevensons 4.74. We are shooting for something in the low 70's next hit.

I also got some new 12" wide Champion Beadlock wheels installed yesterday after our first test pass. They seemed to help the car stay on a straight line. They look pretty killer too!

john,  your car should fit the outlaw drag radial and true 10.5 class both.  i spoke with reed about going up some this year,  we are going to try to play in the 275/60 class.  maybe we can get a couple of the north mississippi cars together and go up there.
